What is a better value for money? A 500g box of washing powder priced £2.85 or a 300g box priced £1.74?

We need to work out the cost per gram, which means divide the cost by the weight.
£2.85/500=0.57p per g; £1.74/300=0.58p per g, so the 500g box gives better value.
