The function f(x) is continuous everywhere.

(x²-1)/(x+1)=x-1 except at x=-1 when it is undefined. But this piecewise function excludes this expression when x=-1. At the limit as x→-1 the expression is -2, and when specifically x=-1, f(x)=-2 so continuity is provided and f(x) is continuous everywhere, particularly at x=-1, and I think this is the answer they’re looking for.
