There are two options for tickets and admission to the carnival. Option 1 requires you to pay a $5 admission fee plus $0.30 per ride ticket. Option 2 requires you to pay a $3 admission ticket plus an $0.80 per ride ticket. 1 Answer

Let the number of ticket they purchased by x.

given,

5 + 0.3x = 3 + 0.8x

or 5-3 = 0.8x-0.3x

or 2 = 0.5x

or x = 2/0.5 = 4

So they each bought 4 tickets
