Garrett chose option #1 and Meagan chose option 2 If they wound up paying the same amount of money, how many tickets did they each purchase?

Let the number of ticket they purchased by x.

given,

5 + 0.3x = 3 + 0.8x

or 5-3 = 0.8x-0.3x

or 2 = 0.5x

or x = 2/0.5 = 4

So they each bought 4 tickets
