y=1+x-x2-x4=1-x2+x(1-x3)=(1-x)(1+x)+x(1-x)(1+x+x2)=(1-x)((1+x)+x(1+x+x2)).

So y=(1-x)(1+2x+x2+x3).

The remaining factors can be found by solving 1+2x+x2+x3=0. These will be irrational and complex.
