Ahmed is 7 years older than Laura. In 6 years the sum of their ages will be 47. How old is Ahmed now?

x=y+7

(x+6) +(y+6)=47

so x+y=47-12=35

x+(x+7)=35

2x=35-7=28

x=14

y=7
