Let y=2x-5, then 2x=y+5, x=½(y+5).

If y=f(x)=2x-5, then x=f-1(y)=½(y+5).

Since y is only a placeholder in the function:

f-1(x)=½(x+5) and is the inverse of 2x-5.

CHECK: f(f-1(x)) should be equal to x:

f(f-1(x))=f(½(x+5))=2(½(x+5))-5=x+5-5=x✔️
