⅖×17=2/5×17/1=34/5. Multiply the numerators together then multiply the denominators together:  2×17=34 and 5×1=5. Sometimes you can reduce the arithmetic by “cancelling”—that is, dividing a numerator and a denominator by a common factor. But in this question there are no common factors so the answer remains 34/5. This is an improper fraction and it converts to a mixed number: 6⅘.
