The left-hand side simplifies: -0.5(x-6)=0.5, so -(x-6)=1 (dividing throughout by 0.5).

Expand the parentheses: -x+6=1, add x to each side: 6=1+x, subtract 1 from each side: 5=x, so x=5 is the solution.
