You need some math to set a budget, that's one application. You may also use it to work out your fuel consumption in your car or home. You may need it to work out how long it will take you to go from place to place in your car, or to work out what time you will get there. Math is used for calculating purchase tax and income tax. You may want to know if you're paying too much (or too little) when you pay for goods or services, or tax dues. You may want to check that deductions from your wages or salary are correct and fair, or your union dues are correctly calculated. When purchasing goods, did you get the right change? Is your pension correct or are you getting the right deductions for pension from your pay? Your future education and chosen career may require a good grasp of math, or you will not be able to get a decent job.
You probably already use math without knowing it, because math includes logic as well as numbers. These are just a few examples of what math can be used for, and I'm sure you'll think of others. As you get older you will realise you need some math skills, because you may have nobody to ask and you can't look up the answers! Good luck!
