What is 5/66 divide by 4 9/8?

i don't know this at all. I know how to divide, but not fractions with mixed numbers.

Convert the mixed number into an improper fraction: 4 9/8=41/8 (=(8*4+9)/8).

Now we can invert the improper fraction and multiply: 5/66*8/41=(5*8)/(41*66)=(5*4)/(41*33)=20/1353. That's the answer to the question as presented.

BUT...

The mixed number looks suspicious, because the fraction part is greater than 1. A mixed number is supposed to be a whole number plus a fraction that is less than 1. Perhaps the mixed number was supposed to be 4 8/9=44/9. The division would give you an awkward fraction. Are you sure you're not supposed to multiply rather than divide? Because if you multiply you get 5/66*44/9=(5*44)/(66*9)=(5*2)/(3*9)=10/27. That would be a happier ending!

I see your point. I have been learning math scince kidagarden. Frations are not my best, but I try. Thank you for helping me with that because I been learning fractions scince 2d grade and through the grades. They get harder here in the United States.
