The graph of 5y=17, or y=17/5=3.4, is a straight line parallel to the x axis, while -5x-3y=-11, which is the same as 5x+3y=11, is a straight line passing through the intercepts. The x intercept is when y=0, x=11/5=2.2; the y intercept is when x=0, y=11/3=3.67 (approx).

Given 5y=17 .......(1)

-5x-3y=-11........(2)

From 1

y = 17/5

y = 3.4

Substitute y value in equation (2)

-5x-3(3.4)=-11

x= 0.16

And The x intercept is when y=0,

x=11/5=2.

The y intercept is when x=0,

y=11/3=3.67
