-3x < +3,

-x < 1

I guess you just want the answer to the inequality: -3X-5<-2? Add 3X+5 to both sides: 0<3X+3. Now twist it round together with the inequality: 3X+3>0. Divide through by 3: X+1>0. Finally, subtract 1 from each side: X>-1. That's the answer: X can take any value bigger than -1, that is, more positive than -1. Think of it as temperature. X is any temperature above 1 degree below freezing (Celsius, of course).
