To find the distance between two points we use Pythagoras' theorem, and use the x and y coords to form a right-angled triangle, where the hypotenuse is the distance between the points. The distance between the x coords is 4-(-7)=11 and 5-(-3)=8 between the y coords. The hypotenuse is sqrt(11^2+8^2)=sqrt(121+64)=sqrt(185)=13.60 approx.
