I am very confused as to what to do after i find the derivative. I found the derivative to be 1 + cosx but I dont know where to go from there

You're missing information. You need at least the x or y value to get Lt or Ln, as shown below.

 

f(x) x+2sin(x)  
f'(x) 1+2cos(x)  
     
Line Tangent:    
Lt(x1,y1)= y-y1=m(x-x1)
     
Line Normal:    
Ln(x1,x2)= y-y1=(-1/m)(x-x1)
