Evaluate the derivative at the given value of x:

If y = x^4 +4x^3 – 2x +2, find dy/dx |x = -1

dy/dx = 4x^3 + 12x^2 - 2

dy/dx(-1) = 4(-1)^3 + 12 (-1)^2 - 2

               = -4 + 12 - 2 = 6
