Well i dont know how to make an equation for two coordinate points. My teacher gave us homework. And one of the problems was.

question: write and equation for the line through the pair of points.

pair of points: (2,3) and (1,6)

i know the standard format:

y=mx+b and i know that m=slope and b=y-intercept.

i just dont know how to actually do it. please help, thank you.

Points (2,3) and (1,6).

First find the slope (m):

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (6 - 3)/(1 - 3) = 3/-2 = -3/2

using one of the points (2,3):

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

y - 3 = -3/2(x - 2)

y - 3 = (-3/2)x + 6/2

y = (-3/2)x + 6
