If x+y=-20 and xy=100, then y=-(x+20) and x(x+20)=-100, x2+20x+100=0, (x+10)2=0, x=-10 and y=-10.

If x+y=-20 and x2y=100,

y=-x-20, so x2(x+20)=-100, x3+20x2+100=0. x=-20.2440, y=0.2440 approx.
