If A has A balls then B=½A and C=A-20, and A+½A+A-20=100. So 2½A=120, that is, 5A=240, A=240/5=48 balls.

CHECK: A has 48 balls, B has 24 balls and C has 28 balls so there are 48+24+28=100 balls altogether. OK!
