3x - 7 = x + 15

Solve for x by subtracting x on both side which gives

2x - 7 = 15

Add 7 on both sides to get

2x = 15 + 7 = 22

Divide both sides by 2 to get

x = 22/2 = 11
by

7 less than the product of 3 and x means (3x-7) ......... i
x increased by 15 means (x+15) .............. ii

i = ii (given)
3x-7 = x+15
3x-7-x+7 = x+15-x+7 ......(adding -x+7 on both sides)
2x = 15+7 ...... (simplifying the above equation)
2x = 22
2x/2 = 22/2 .....(dividing both sides by 2)
x = 11 Answer
