5u + 3v = -17 ; 2u + v = -7

now mulitply (2u + v = -7) by -3 and add

hence,

       5u + 3v = -17

+  ( -6u - 3v = 21)

 this results to -u = 4

thus u = -4

by substituting the value of u in either equation,

v = 1.

5u+3v=-17.......1 2u+v=-7...........2 multiply eqn 2 by 3 5u +3v =-17.......1 6u+3v=-21... ... ..3eqn (1-3) -u=4 u=-4 2(-4)+v =-7 -8+v =-7 v=-7+8 v=1
