2) r + s = 15  or  s = 15 - r

substitute eq(2) into eq(1):

r = 2(15 - r)

r = 30 - 2r

3r = 30

r = 30/3 = 10

using eq(2):

s = 15 - 10 = 5

Randy is 10 years old. His sister is 5 years old.
