4x - 2y = 8
2y = 4x - 8
y = 2x - 4
f(x) = 2x - 4

Let f(x) = y. We have:

y = 2x - 4
y + 4 = 2x
x = (y + 4) / 2
f^-1 (x) = (x + 4) / 2

Hence, the inverse function is f^-1 (x) = (x + 4) / 2
