6 * 9x = 10x - 2

54x = 10x -2

44x = -2

x = -2/44

x = -1/22

Since the wording doesn't say which of 10 times the number and 2 is bigger, it could mean:

6 * 9x = 2 - 10x

54x = 2 - 10x

64x = 2

x = 2/64

x = 1/32

Both x = -1/22 and x = 1/32 would be correct.
