Rewrite the equations:

y=⅓x-1, 3y=x-3⇒

x-3y=3⇒5x-15y=15,

5x-9y=0

(5x-15y)-(5x-9y)=15-0=15,

-15y+9y=15,

-6y=15, y=-15/6=-(3/3)(5/2)=-5/2.

x=3y+3=-15/2+3=-9/2.

SOLUTION: x=-9/2, y=-5/2.
