Last year, the US sales of Ford, GM, and Dodge, respectively, were in the ratio 92 : 121 : 35. GM has announced sales of $10.8 billion for the first half of the current fiscal year. If the three companies have maintained the same market share as they did the last year, what were the first half sales of Ford and Dodge, rounded to two decimal points.

Ford:GM:Dodge=92:121:35 last year.

We can write this:

Ford:GM:Dodge=92/121:1:35/121.

Now we multiply these ratios by $10.8B (where B=billion):

92×10.8/121:10.8:35×10.8/121=8.21:10.8:3.12. These are the fiscal half-year figures for the current year.

So Ford sales would be $8.21B, Dodge sales would be $3.12B.
