How many ways are there for the friends to sit together?

Lily is going to the movies with Abby, Blake, and Carol. All friends would like to sit next to each other. Carol has to sit on an end and Abby and Blake have to sit together. How many ways are there for the friends to sit together?

Eight ways:

ABLC, BALC, CABL, CBAL, CLAB, CLBA, LABC, LBAC

There are 24 ways for friends to sit together so I listed them all then removed those that neither began nor ended with Carol (C). Then I removed those that did not have A and B (Abby and Blake) together. That left me with the list shown above.
