6x + Y = 540 3.5× + Y = 365 Solve for x and y I know x =70 and y=120 but I don't know how to get there algerbraically

Eliminate y by subtracting one equation from the other:

2.5x=540-365=175, x=175/2.5=70. y=540-6x=540-420=120.
