You could plot distance travelled in time. If you were, for instance, walking to school you could time how long it takes to walk a certain distance, and keep measuring time and distance at different points on the way. You can measure distance by counting lamp posts or other markers which are regularly spaced. Knowing how far apart they are by measuring the fixed distance between two of them you can work out the distance in feet, yards, metres, etc. With time on the horizontal axis and distance on the vertical axis you can plot your path to school. The graph you get represents your journey. If you meet a friend on the way and stop to chat, the distance would stay the same while time passed and the graph would show a kink at this point. If you turn round and walk back, the distance decreases while time continues to increase, and the graph would show this. Join up all the points in order to get a continuous graph which would show you how far from home you were at any particular time.
Maybe this was your journey one day!
