If x is the amount of NaCl salt in grams, this is equal to x/58.453 moles.

The solution is 500ml or 0.5 litres.

Therefore the molarity 0.5M=(x/58.453)/0.5, and the amount of salt x=0.25×58.453=58.453/4g = 14.61325g which is 14.61g to 2 dec places.
