The length and width of the box are each reduced by 2x: 18-2x and 24-2x. The height of the open box is x cm.

The volume V is (18-2x)(24-2x)x=4x(9-x)(12-x)=4x(108-21x+x²)=4x³-84x²+432x. V=4x³-84x²+432x.
