a boat traveled 210 miles downstream and back. the trip downstream took 10 hours. the trip back took 70 hours. what is the speed of the boat in still water? what is the speed of the current?

Let boat speed=b and current speed=c.

210=10(b+c)=70(b-c).

b+c=21, b-c=3.

Add: 2b=24, b=12, so c=9.

Boat speed is 12mph and current speed is 9mph.
