Let J be Jay’s age now, so his father’s age is 2J.

In 20 years, J will be J+20 and his father will be 2J+20.

So J+20=(2/3)(2J+20).

Multiply both sides by 3:

3J+60=4J+40, so 20=J. Jay is 20 years old and his father is 40 years old.
