What is the mass of the basket

A basket with 12 apples has a mass of 3,105 grams. The same basket with 7 apples has a mass of 1,980 grams. Each apple has the same mass. What is the mass of the basket?

Let a=mass of one apple and b=mass of the basket.

12a+b=3105 and 7a+b=1980. Subtract these equations from one another:

5a=1125 and a=225g. The mass of the basket is 1980-7×225=405g.
