The water authority charges $10.00 per month for the meter rent , $25.00 for the first 100 liters and $ 1.00 for each additional 10 liters. What is the total bill for 250 liters used in one month?

Standing charge: $10.00 per month

First 100 litres: $25.00 per litre

Additional litres: $1.00 per litre

Monthly usage is: 250 litres

The first 100 litres costs: $25 * 100 = $2, 500

There are 250 - 100 = 150 litres additional

Cost of additional litres is: $1.00 * 150 = $150

Now add on standing charge of $10.00

Total charge for the month is: $2, 500 + $150.00 + $10.00 = $2, 660

Monthly charge is: $2, 660
