Multiply the first equation by 3 and the second by 2 and subtract one from the other:

18x-15y=27-(18x-14y=30); -y=-3 so y=3. If y=3 then 6x-15=9, 6x=24, x=4.

9x-7y=36-21=15, so the second equation also balances. Solution: x=4, y=3.
