so is x + x + 1 + x + 2

Is there a number that you need to divide like maybe 1/4 x and 1/4 (x+2).

I appreciate the help!

Let n be any integer then three consecutive even integers are 2n-2, 2n and 2n+2.

Sum of the smaller two is 4n-2=(1/4)(2n)(2n+2)=n(n+1).

4n-2=n^2+n; n^2-3n+2=0=(n-2)(n-1). So n=1 or 2 and the three integers are: 0, 2, 4 or 2, 4 ,6.
