You need to convert the fractions so that they have the same denominator. 9 and 6 both go into 18. 1/9 is 2/18 and 5/6 is 15/18. The problem now becomes 5 2/18 - 1 15/18. But because 2/18 is less than 15/18, we have to borrow 18/18 (=1) and take 1 off 5=4. Now we have 18+2 =20 eighteenths and we can easily do the subtraction: 4 20/18-1 15/18=3 5/18 or 3.2777...

I'm also so comfused. I don't know how to convert the answer to a fraction. People should give out easyer math homework.
