When you ask this type of question, think of the parttern of it.

20,22. Well you added 2. 22,10. You subtracted 12. 10,17. You added 7.

17,13. You subtracted 4. So that was a patteren.

Now, a pattern is something that repeats itself.

Now the beginnging was add 2. So add 2 of 13 and you will get 15.

Answer: 15

I don't know if you have the right answer, but what I do like is your logical explanation. You are thinking your way through a problem, and that's really good. I don't know what the answer is, and I used a different logic to give me a different result, which may well be wrong.

I don't know either. I thought I got it right at least. Maybe it is 15. Who knows? I was just using it what I learned in 5th grade last year. I tries at least.

This solution is offered as a possibility.

20,22,10,17,13,?

Write these as coordinates:

(20,22),(10,17),(13,?)

The line joining the first pair has a gradient (17-22)/(10-20)=1/2 and therefore the line y=x/2+c where c is a constant applies. 22=20/2+c so c=12 and y=x/2+12 is the line. When x=13, y=13/2+12=18.5. Therefore the missing number is 18.5.
