The answer is 336

The reason why is because 3ab is equal to 345. 
And (a + b) is eqaul to (4 + 5) 

So..
345 - ( 4+5) 
345 - 9
= 336

You got part of it right, but 3ab is 3*a*b=3*4*5=60. You got (4+5)=9 OK, so the answer would be 60-9=51. See what I mean? 345=3*100+4*10+5. But I'm pleased you had a go at answering. It's clear that you really want to help.
