Subtract 26 from 32 first=6. 3/4=6/8 so 3/8-6/8 can't be done so borrow 1 from 6 to make 5 and replace 1 with 8/8. Add 8/8 to the 3/8=11/8. Now we can subtract 6/8: 11/8-6/8=5/8, so answer is 5 5/8.

32 3/8 - 26 3/4=

259/8 - 107/4=

259/8 - (107/4 x 2/2)=

259/8 - 214/8= (259-214)/8=

45/8= 5 5/8
