It depends what you mean by simplify. The mixed number (integer plus fraction) can be rewritten as an improper fraction (top bigger than bottom) by multiplying the denominator (bottom of the fraction) by the integer=3*1331=3993 and adding the numerator (top of the fraction) 1=3993+1=3994 and dividing it by 3=3994/3. You can convert it to a decimal, which would be 1331.3 recurring or 1331.3333...3. Does that make it simpler to you or more complicated?
