6x + 13 = 15x + 5

-6x - 5 =  -6x  - 5

8 = 8x

x = 1

Subtract 6x from either side: 13=9x+5 and subtract 5 from either side: 8=9x, so, dividing through by 9: 8/9=x, or x=8/9.
