45 can be factorised as 3*3*5. The square root of 45 can be simplified by looking for an even number of the same factors. We have two 3's. The square root will deliver one of these, leaving 5. So the square root of 45 is 3*sqrt(5). The square root of 45x is therefore 3*sqrt(5x).
