6x - 3y = 18

6x - 6x - 3y = 18 - 6x

-3y = 6x - 18

-3y/-3 = 6x/-3 - 18/-3

y = -2x - (-6)

y = 2x + 6

The slope of the equation is 2

The y-intercept of the equation is 6

You've made a mistake in the sign:

6x - 3y = 18

-3y = 18 - 6x   .... pull 6x to the RHS

3y = 6x -18   .... change the sign on LHS and RHS

y = 2x - 6    .... divide both sides by 3.
