27/33 - 6/22
1.  Simplify any fractions if possible
27/33 -> 27 and 33 are multiples of 3;
27 = 3*9
33 = 3*11
(27/33) = (3*9)/(3*11) = (3/3)(9/11)
(3/3) = 1
(3/3)(9/11) = (1)(9/11)
(1)(9/11) = 9/11
27/33 = 9/11
--------------
6/22 - > 6 and 22 are multiples of 2;
6 = 2*3
22 = 2*11
(6/22) = (2*3)/(2*11)
(2*3)/(2*11) = (2/2)(3/11)
(2/2) = 1
(2/2)(3/11) = (1)(3/11)
6/22 = 3/11
--------------
27/33 - 6/22 = 9/11 - 3/11
By simplifing the fractions first, we ended up with a common denominator without much effort.
9/11 - 3/11 = (9 - 3)/11
(9 - 3)/11 = 6/11
Answer;
27/33 - 6/22 = 6/11
