FALSE. A compound function is sometimes called a composite function, where the output from one function becomes the input for another function. A piecewise function divides the domain (province of the independent variable) into separate functions depending on the value of the independent variable. In this way, a piecewise function is the sum of functions while the compound function is a product of functions.
