Draw two vertical lines in the xy plane at x=10 and x=-10. The regions to the right of x=10 and to the left of x=-10 represent the solution x>10 and x<-10. The area between the lines is to be excluded from the solution and this can be indicated by shading or blacking out, making it clear that the area is to be excluded, rather than included.
