The first equation can be simplified by divide no through by 2:

4x+4=-3y+3 and it simplifies further:

4x+3y=-1.

Rearrange the second equation: 10x-9y=-8.

So we have:

4x+3y=-1

10x-9y=-8

Multiply the first of these by 3:

12x+9y=-3 and add to the second:

22x=-11, so x=-11/22=-½.

Use any equation to get y: 3y=-1-4x=-1+2=1. So x=-½ and y=⅓.

Check the solution by substituting into the original equations:

-4+8=-2+6=4 correct! -5=3-8 correct!
