-5(4x-2)=-2(3+6x)

distribute the factors first

-20x + 10 = -6 -12x  (-5(4x + -5(-2)) -5 times each variable in the parenthesis ans -2 on the other side of the equal sign

-20x + 10 = -6 -12x rewrite

-20x from both sides

10 = -6 -12x +20x

10 = -6 + 8x

add 6 to both sides

10 + 6 = 8x

16 = 8x

divide both sides by 8

16/8 = 8x/8

2 = x
